I use the Stitcher app for managing podcasts. Here are the ones I currently listen to during my commute (which is over an hour each way):
- PHP Web Development Podcast – podcast about PHP development
- Coding Blocks – podcast about coding with an emphasis on C#.NET but also has general episodes about computer science topics, such as data structures
- HanselMinutes – interviews with people and coding topics
- Smashing Security – security podcast
- Paul’s Security Weekly – security podcast
- Code Newbie – podcast for new developers and interviews with people about how they got into tech. Excellent podcast for new developers!
- Syntax Web Development Podcast – a podcast about various web development topics
- This Week in Tech – various tech topics, less coding-centric and more about consumer tech
- Hak5 – information security and information technology
- Speaking in Tech – enterprise tech podcast (not the same as consumer tech)
- SANS Internet StormCast – short daily news about security stuff such as security vulnerabilities that need to be patched
- Software Engineering Daily – interviews and episodes about in-depth software engineering topics
- The Cloud Cast
- Devops Chats
- Dear SQL DBA
Listen to these podcasts when you commute or go to the gym. If your commute is shorter than mine, you might only want to listen to a couple of the above podcasts. Code Newbie is a good podcast to start with, especially if you’re a beginner developer and want motivation for getting into the field, and want to learn about how other people got into coding.
